穴居性是指家兔具有打洞并在洞內(nèi)產(chǎn)仔穴居的本能行為。這一習(xí)性，對(duì)現(xiàn)代化養(yǎng)兔生產(chǎn)來說無法利用。不過在籠養(yǎng)的情況下，需要給繁殖母兔建好產(chǎn)仔箱或窩，讓母兔在箱（窩）內(nèi)產(chǎn)仔。但是在建筑兔舍時(shí)，必須考慮到家兔的穴居性，以兔由于選材不當(dāng)或設(shè)計(jì)不合理，致使有兔在舍內(nèi)打洞造穴，給飼養(yǎng)管理帶來困難。
